hairspiration forever re: Lady Miss Kier
Today I’m writing about one of my friends who actually doesn’t have a blog! Can you believe there are people without blogs nowadays? Anyways, her name is Rachel and, as you can see, she’s a totally bodacious babe. Rachel was my very first life-changing fatty. I haven’t always been a chubster, you see. So when my bod started to change, I didn’t really know what to make of it. I always tried to cover it up with hoodies and boring jeans and stuff. Then I met Rachel!
Rachel was the first girl I’d ever met in my whole life that seemed to have genuine confidence. Seeing her totally not give a shit, struttin’ her stuff in tight clothes, bein’ adorable, snaggin’ hot dudes, and FINALLY having another fat girl to go shopping with were all pretty dang revolutionary to me at the time. Furthermore, she never tries to cover herself up, diet, apologize for her size, or put herself down. I don’t know if she knows anything about the body acceptance movement or HAES, or anything like that, but knowing her is definitely one of the reasons I have come to be involved in this community.
Nowadays our babe bonding sessions have expanded to doing burlesque together, which I can assure you is like pretty much the coolest and most fun thing ever! We dance at a really amazing and INCREDIBLY body positive studio in downtown Cleveland. I get a li’l emotional just typing about it, because it’s pretty awesome to have a group of ladies of all sizes who believe that all bodies are good bodies around me. Sisterhood is totally rad, you guys.
I have suggested to Rachel a few times that she should start a blog, because she seriously has the most amazing style! She’s like a very classy Tracy Turnblad with smaller hair. I hope this femme crush gets lots of notes so maybe she’ll think about it. ;)
Hey guys! This is my friend Olivia! I chose this photo of her because I feel like it’s a pretty real representation of what she’s all about and also WHITE CHUCKS. Olivia is part of the Daddy’s Soul Donut collective which is basically just me, her, and the aforementioned Aria talking about important things and things that are only important to us and telling each other how perfect we all are. These are all really important activities to us.
I have a respect crush on Olivia because she is one of the most BADASS yet very lovely and caring friends I have. When I’m experiencing a great deal of anxiety over something and finding it hard to deal, I can always count on her to step in with some wise and reassuring words. Olivia is in school for clinical psych, and I have a psych degree, so it’s good to have someone to talk to about psych nerd stuff. Olivia gave me the nickname of Dr. Rock, PhD which I am really into. She lives in London which is like, the coolest place anyone could live (to me). She’ll talk critical theory all night long with you. She has the same taste in fashion as me, and by that I mean we would be perfectly happy to dress like 90s Drew Barrymore forever. Also another reason to like Olivia is that she likes this blog. And I quote, “HELL YEAH this is a dream come true. Re-claiming homosociality from br0s always & forever.”
So basically my dream is to go hangout in London with Olivia and watch all the tv and go cruising for babes with long hair and leather jackets and motorcycles and hold hands while listening to Burzum.
This is my friend Aria! I have a respect crush on Aria because:
My dream is to someday be roommates with Aria and go out on double dates sometimes and sometimes stay in and read each others’ tarot cards and maybe braid each others’ hair. SHE’S SO COOL but really you should find out for yourself.
